Michael Johnson


Growing up in Chesapeake, Virginia, Michael played high school basketball at Oscar Smith High School where he was one of the top scorers in the area and was selected to be a part of the Boo Williams program. Michael played JuCo basketball at Napa Valley (California) and continued playing collegiate basketball in the MIAA conference at Southwest Baptist University in Missouri.


Michael has an extreme passion for youth basketball. He has coached multiple youth basketball camps for local college programs and for the Seattle Storm. He has coached as an assistant with Ballard High School Boys Basketball and Mercer Island High School Girls Basketball teams. While at MIHS, the program was a two-time state qualifier. Michael also helped coach at Inglewood Middle School this past fall. Michael has been coaching as part of the Local Hoops family for three years, with the Wee Bee Ballers as well as in practices and trainings for multiple age groups.


Michael works for NW Center and is currently finishing his master's degree in school counseling. Michael, his wife Chauntelle, who is also a Local Hoops coach, and their two daughters live in Bellevue.
