Coach Payton graduated from Woodinville high school in 2014 where he led his team in assists as a senior. That summer he played for LocalHOOPS and picked up interest from Bellevue College, his first college he attended, where he spent his first year as a redshirt with a broken foot before playing his freshman year. He transferred the following year to Shoreline Community College where the team finished first in the NWAC North. After graduating from Shoreline, Payton accepted a scholarship to play at Quest University Canada where he played a year before the athletics program was cut. At Quest Payton was top 5 in the league in rebounds and steals. Following the discontinuation of athletics at Quest Payton transferred to Grande Prairie Regional College in Alberta, Canada where he was named All-Conference averaging 17 PPG 7 RPG and 4 APG which ranked him top 10 in the conference in scoring and assists. During his collegiate career Payton has shot 40% from 3 point territory every year but 1. Coach Payton has 1 year of eligibility left in Canada but wants to take a gap year to prepare mentally and physically for his final year of collegiate basketball. Payton has coached for 3 years, as well as basketball camps in Canada and looks forward to helping the program that started his basketball career.
