Our coaches are accomplished, experienced, and passionate about helping every athlete reach their potential.

Kelly Edwards
Founder & CEO
Kelly founded LOCALHOOPS in Seattle in 2009 and has been coaching full time ever since. Kelly played for O’Dea High school, and won the state 3A championship three out of his four years there, 04, 05, 07 (they lost in the championship game his junior year- 06). After O’Dea he played for Che Dawson at Highline Community College. They won the Western Division title his sophomore year, giving them the #1 seed to the NWAC tournament, where they lost in the semi-finals. Kelly went on to play at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon for his junior and senior years. He was named Second-Team All Conference his junior year, with 16.5 points and 5 rebounds per game, and First Team All Conference his senior year, with 19 points and 7 rebounds per game, ranking his Pioneers as high as #24 in the nation that year. After college Kelly played professionally for the ABA, and is still active in the Jamal Crawford Summer Pro League. In 2019 summer he averaged 28 ppg, 9.5 rpg & 7.5 apg. Kelly turned down professional opportunities overseas to grow LocalHOOPS into what it is today. He has played with or against the likes of NBA pros such as: Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Isaiah Thomas, Martell Webster, Brandon Roy, Jason Terry, Lamarcus Aldridge, Terry Rozier, Dejounte Murray, Zach Lavine, James Johnson, Earl Clark, Mario Chalmers, and many more. Outside of basketball, Kelly is a father of 3 – when you are in the gym keep an eye out for his wife Cindy, who is head of operations for LocalHOOPS, and his two sons KJ & Kamani, as well as his daughter Kamaya, who are already beginning to work on their handle. Throughout it all, Kelly’s passion remains Local Hoops and its athletes. He loves giving back to the community that gave him so much. "I wouldn't trade this for the world!".

Trey Edwards
Girls Academy Director, Head of Media
Trey is a proud LOCALHOOPS alumni, class of 2014. He played his college basektball at Div 1 Montana Western NAIA. He has been coaching with LOCALHOOPS since 2015. His passion for coaching comes from watching athletes develop their IQ of the game.

Romeo Wheeler
Boys Academy Director
Romeo played his college basketball at Green River College and has been coaching youth for over a decade. He is the proud father of three daughters.

Micah Mitchell
Lions League Director, Girls Academy Director, Training Director
Coach Micah Mitchell is a passionate basketball coach and former athlete with a deep love for the game. A four-year varsity basketball player at Shorewood High School, Micah showcased his talent early, leading to a collegiate career at North Seattle College. Following college, he played professionally in the ABA and continues to compete locally in the Jamal Crawford Pro Am. Since 2012, Micah has been dedicated to coaching youth basketball, using the sport as a platform to teach valuable life lessons and foster development in young athletes. In 2018, he joined LocalHoops, where he has continued to make a positive impact. Currently, Micah serves as the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Bellevue High School Girls Basketball Program, bringing his expertise and passion to the next generation of players. Off the court, Coach Micah enjoys spending quality time with his wife Monica and their two beloved dogs, Milton and Lola.

Darrell Murphy

Darrell directs all LOCALHOOPS camps and clinics, creating immersive experiences that accelerate player development during school breaks. With 18 years of basketball coaching experience ranging fromAAU to high school teams, he is passionate about developing athletes on and off the court. Rich Thomas
Development League Director
Rich leads our Development League, focusing on teaching young athletes the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, encouraging environment. In addition to coaching basketball he is the Commercial Project Manager @ Ace Relocation Systems. Coach Richard is a father of 2 girls Payton (12) and Dallas (4), husband to Erika and dog dad to Jackson (Shorkie). Coach Richard is a native of New Orleans LA, by way of Renton Wa, he played Prep Sports @ Warren Easton High School (02’) and furthered his education @ The University Of New Orleans School of Business. His passion for basketball extends beyond the court, it’s his belief that some of the most important lessons in life our taught to us through sports. Deb Carmichael

Deb leads community engagement for LOCALHOOPS, fostering relationships with families, schools, and organizations across the Seattle area.

Jordan Estill
Coach Jordan has been with local hoops for 10 years, since the first day SBBA became LocalHoops. Coach J played collegiate Division 2 basketball at The Evergreen State College, later joining the Seattle a mountaineers (ABA) where he learned valuable skills and lessons from former and current NBA Pros.

Brandon Horstman
Brandon Horstman began coaching High school basketball in 2006. He served as a C team head coach, JV head coach and Varsity assistant at his alma mater Highline Hs in a two-year span. Brandon then served as an assistant with Highline College's Men's basketball team from 2008-2012. Brandon moved back to the high school level and served as a Varsity assistant at Lindbergh Hs (2012-2013) and Chief Sealth Hs (2013-2014). Brandon next served as the boys' basketball head coach at Tyee Hs from 2014-2016. Brandon took over as the head boys' basketball coach at Mount Rainier High School to start the 2016-2017 season. Brandon will be entering his 8th season as the head coach at Mount Rainier.

Mike Greene
Coach Mike played high school basketball at Roosevelt High School in Seattle, WA. He played college basketball at Western Washington University. He’s been coaching at LocalHoops since 2014. I enjoy coaching because I feel I have a lot of knowledge and experience to share. I also love making a difference, it’s not always about basketball but life as well.

Darryl Greer
Coach Daryl player 4 years Rainier Beach High School and was a 2 sport athlete basketball football. He then went to Iowa Wesleyan college on football scholarship. He Later transferred to Western Washington where graduated in general studies. He coached Kent REC for 5 years and assisted foster Hs for 2 years until finding a home at LOCALHOOPS

Darin Burley
Coach Darin played College basketball at Olympic College. He coached High School basketball after his playing days. Darin has been involved with youth basketball for 9 years. His son has played for LOCALHOOPS for the last 5 years and has a daughter in High School.

Lai Saephan
Lai was a graduate of South Whidbey HS where he was a three-sport athlete. In football he was an all conference wide receiver. In basketball he earned an all conference and all area honors. He made his coaching debut for Seattle Academy in 2002 where he coached 7th grade girls. He has 9 years of AAU coaching experience, along with 5 years as a member of the board of directors.

Charlee Arthur
Charlee graduated from Newport High School in 2021 as a 4 year varsity member. She played Division 1 basketball at Brown University and Eastern Arizona before having to medically retire. After being injured her Freshman and Sophomore year of college, she discovered her love for coaching. She loves sharing the game that has brought her so much. Charlee has played basketball since she was 7 years old. She recently finished her bachelors degree at UW.

Arlen Proctor
Arlen began coaching in 2008 and has experience at the high school and AAU levels. Currently he’s an assistant with the Boy’s program at Summit Sierra and trains athletes privately. He played high school basketball in Corvallis, OR as well as NAIA Southern Oregon University.

Logan Wischler
Logan first picked up a basketball at the age of 1 and a half with his Dad and didn’t look back. He played for Bothell High School for 3 years and Local Hoops in his last few years of AAU. He started coaching in 2023. Now he decided it was time to turn his focus from playing to coaching. Logan became a coach to help kids develop as players but more importantly as people and teaching them life-skills

Rachael Bush
Rachael graduated from Cleveland High School in 2022 as a 4 year varsity player and played with Local Hoops in her final years of AAU. Deciding to stay involved with the program, Rachael became a coach to share her love of the game. She is a young coach and excited to grow as a leader within a program that she called home.

Chris Baltazar
Basketball has been a central part of coach Chis life since a young age. He spent four years on the varsity team at a charter school called Summit Sierra before a combination of injury and COVID ended his playing career. After a year and a half at Central Washington University, he returned home to coach and discovered a passion for coaching with Drills and Skills, the program where he first learned the game. Following his time at Summit Sierra, he received an opportunity to coach the basketball team and is now in his second year coaching at the school. He is dedicated to teaching young athletes valuable life lessons through sports. Alongside coaching, he is studying to become a physical therapist, aiming to blend his knowledge and experience to support and inspire the next generation to achieve something positive for themselves.

Brian Porter
Coach Brian played basketball at Hanford High School in eastern Washington. He coached youth basketball for a few years before joining LOCALHOOPS in the Fall of 2022. He is passionate about teaching our young athletes the fundamentals of basketball and helping them be prepared for the next level. Through the game of basketball, Coach Brian hopes to instill in our youth the values of Team Work, Self Confidence, Perseverance, Good Sportsmanship, and other life long skills which will help our players become successful individuals

Mario Seril
Coach Mario loves the game of basketball, and has idolized Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant growing up. He played for Renton High School for 2 years. He started coaching in 2015 and brings 11+ seasons of competitive basketball experience to the court, combining a deep passion for player development. A dedicated mentor, he prioritizes fundamental skill-building, teamwork, and accountability, shaping athletes who excel both on and off the court. He has guided teams to high-level competition most recently leading a squad to a championship victory and qualification for the Washington State Championship. His focus extends beyond the game, instilling life lessons that prepare players for success beyond basketball.

Alvertis Brooks Jr.
Alvertis Brooks Jr. was a four-year letterman at Franklin High School (1996–2000), earning 2nd-Team KingCo 4A honors as a senior, and went on to play as a scholarship basketball athlete at Seattle University (2001–2006). He later coached at Franklin High School (2008), served as Head Coach at University Prep (2017–2018), and had the opportunity to coach in the NBPA Top 100 Camp in 2017. As a lifelong educator and coach, he remains committed to youth development and education through sport. Alvertis holds masters in inter-colligate athletic leadership and Doctorate in Education Leadership from the University of Washington. Focusing on the inclusive efforts of statewide athletic programs ensuring equitable perspective in rule and policy development.

Jabrii Polk
Coach Jabrii Polk is passionate about skill developing athletes in life and sports. Since Seattle, WA is the hometown – there is no greater feeling to teach what I love and love who I am coaching.

Shandon Dyksyerhouse
Shandon Dyksterhouse is a former Skyline High School varsity player (2000–2003) who finished 7th in the state his senior season. He went on to coach at Eastlake High School as an assistant for the varsity girls (2005–2006), and later worked with ECBA as a coach and trainer focusing on ball-handling and shooting before coaching at the Bellevue Pro Club. With more than 10 years of combined experience in private training and program coaching, Shandon helps players develop fundamentals, confidence, and on-court IQ. Off the court he’s a professional nightclub DJ for 13+ years and loves teaching the game to his son Jalen. He also enjoys family time with his daughter Kali and wife Melissa.

Mia Maryland
Born & raised in north texas. Has been playing basketball since 4th grade. She started coaching at 17 & haven't stopped since then. Have enjoy coached because she loves watching kids fall in love with the game.

Darren Pinh
Coach Darren grew up playing basketball for Jefferson Park in the south seattle area. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2022 where he pursued his bachelors degree in Business. Having played varsity basketball at Renton High he began coaching rec basketball then RSB during his college years, he is on his 3rd year of coaching AAU. He coaches to emphasize the importance of being a student athlete, growing the skill set, and growing up to be a respectable person both on&off the court.

Dan Blanchard
Coach Dan Blanchard has spent his entire life involved in the game of Basketball. After playing 3 years on Bothell high Schools Varsity team, Dan spent 2 years at the junior college level playing at both Tacoma Community College and Mesa Community College. From there , he finished his playing career at Eastern Oregon University, helping his team reach the NAIA final four back to back years. After his college career, he continued playing in local men’s leagues and 2 summers in the Jamal Crawford Pro-Am. Since 2018 Dan has been coaching youth sports and training kids in the north King County and south Snohomish county areas. Off the court Dan enjoys cycling , golfing , backpacking and fishing as well as spending time with his Wife Sammye and their 3 boys - Brayden , Quincy , and Dominic.

Jake Emil
Jacob has 20+ years experience playing Basketball. Jacob Played his high school days at Highline high school and has volunteered coaching at Mount rainier hs. Jacob also had the privilege to play in the pro amateur league for over four seasons around the Seattle area which benefited gaining skills and knowledge from his coaches and by sharing the courts with some of the best in the area at the time. Jacob loves to volunteer his time, helping out youth and teens develop on the court and always focused on how he can help make a difference in their lives off the court.

Bryan Oliver
Bryan played basketball for Bellevue High School and has been coaching youth sports since 2012. His kids have been involved in the Local Hoops program since 2016.

Jeremy Gudoy
Coach Jeremy grew up playing basketball in Hawaii and developed a passion for fundamentals, teamwork, and competitive effort early in life. He began coaching youth sports after high school and has returned to coaching multiple seasons at the YMCA. He also serves as an assistant coach in the Jackson High School feeder program, where he emphasizes fundamentals, accountability, and creating a positive environment for player growth. Coach Jeremy focuses on helping athletes build confidence, improve fundamentals, and develop a lasting love for the game.

Simone Lieberman
Simone graduated from Franklin High School in 2022. Throughout high school, she was a three sport varsity athlete, but her passion for basketball has always been the greatest. Local Hoops was one of the first AAU programs Simone ever played for back in 2016, so now, as a college student, Simone wants to continue being involved in the program that sparked her love for the game. Her passion for basketball and working with kids makes her eager to be a coach and excel in this field of work.

Kaili Hilliard
Kaili started playing basketball at a very young age. The daughter of a former professional player grew up on the court and around the game. After moving around a lot and settling down in the Seattle area Kaili played high school basketball and ran track at Jackson High School. After suffering a season ending injury her freshman year of college Kaili decided to focus on coaching. Kaili has spent the last 3 years coaching with Cedar Park Christian select program. Helping CPC select to bring home their first ever state championship in 2023. Coaching experience High school girls 5-8th grade girls 7th grade boys

Pia Montenegro
Administrative Assistant
Pia is LOCALHOOPS' administrative assistant from the Philippines since 2021. She helps handle emails, team chats, tournament scheduling and the academy's social media updates. She has worked as a customer service representative at different call center companies since 2011 and a video editor and a general virtual assistant to various US clients in the past. She loves traveling, playing musical instruments and cooking!
